Starter went yesterday. GRRR. Just when i think i'm getting my feet back undermyself. Waterpump went about 3 weeks ago, starter went not, whats next. I hear thigs go in spurts. I had to park on hills to get my car started from last night til this afternoon. I only had to do the roll and pop the clutch method 3 times but it still did not feel healthy for the car. Anyone know what kind of damage I could've caused by starting the car that way? The starter is in and everything seems ok now but did i mess anything up by starting it how i did the other times. (by the way, i tried hittin the starter with a hammer before i tried the roll & pop method and it didnt work) Thanks in advance.

When you start a manual car that way you only have to be moving 5mph at most. It's actually better to do that since you have less wear on the starter and battery. Of course if your rolling down a steep hill going 40 and then engage the clutch in first gear then that isn't a good thing. Third gear is good at that speed,, etc.,etc. Doubt you did any harm.

I was probably doing a little less than 5 MPH
