I think my starter is going bad. I went to start it today and it sounded weak. But half way through the
starting precess the starter sounded normal. Is this a sing of a weak and dying starter? If so
how much are a new starter? And is it posible for a SHO manual-less dumb a$$ to fix/replace this??

Any and all info appreciated

The cost depends on what model SHO you have. I can tell you that a remanufactured starter for can be had from a local auto supply for around $100. Shop around. If your battery and connections are in good shape, that leaves the starter as the most likely problem.

Its fairly easy. Ive never worked on cars in my whole life and ichanged it myself. Took me about an hour to get it off though. There should be 2 main bolts on the left side of it with the battery ground cable on one of them, and a wire u need to disconnect on the right hand side... if im not mistaken.....

on a 93 mtx it is very easy. The earlier cars have a different starter. What do you have?

I have a 93 MTX. where is it located (top bottom)? What does it look like? The starter on my 94 GL is bright red, is the sho red? I need it fixed before Sat for the WI SHO meet. I kind of sounds weak when it tries to start, sometimes better than other times.

If you crawl under your jackstanded car, you will see the starter located under the oil filter. Can't miss it.
