I have blown through 3 starters since I bought my '94. They work fine for quite awhile and die out. Are the 3.0 and the 3.2 starters different? I have the 3.2. some of them were from a 3.0. My last one was. Replacing with a brand new one. All others were used.

I went through 5 starters in 3 years. Advanced Auto Palladium. Last one was not Palladium since they switched suppliers due to multi failures. Some have had issues with oil getting into the starter from the oil cooler seal going bad. If you are in a warm climate or have a garage it is worth changing seal if it is leaking at all. I have gotten changing the starter down to about 20 min now. I hope I don't need to change one out for a while.

The oil cooler seal will leak more when running. Often doesn't look bad but given a couple of weeks of drip and it pools in the starter. If you don't know it is not a tough fix and you use a oil filter gasket. Gasket is a bit of a tight fit. I think I used a small screw driver to work in the edges.
