as of late when I would go to start the car, I would turn the key, hear a click, and nothing would happen. I would do this a few times and then the starter would kick in. I know my battery is not in the best of shape, having sat for a while last year drained, but even in the past if it was low on charge the starter would engage right away, and the engine would turn over slowly. I haven't used it for a couple of weeks, so yesterday, I put it on a charge for a couple of hours, and when I went to start it, switched the charge to a 55amp boost and it fired up right away. I took the solenoid off and cleaned the contacts. (what is the reset and the red button on the solenoid.
Later, i started it again, it caught on the second turn of the key. So what do you think? I have a used started I got years ago that I can swap out. I haven't checked the output of the solenoid when I have the key turned. I will do that when daylight arrives.
