The engine in my 1989 mtx gradually lowers its idle and eventually stalls when I am not moving. This happens specifically when I am not in gear.
Please help!!
Can mixing oil types cause this?

The idle air control (IAC) valve is responsible for maintaining the idle air flow at the EEC's command. First, try to reset the idle programming (disconnect battery for 15 minutes, restart, let idle settle, add accessory loads within 70 seconds after starting - A/C, headlights, turn steering wheel side-to-side). If that doesn't correct the situation, you can clean or replace the IAC valve. it is the servo controlled valve on the passenger side of the throttle body with one electrical connection and held on by two, 5mm Allen head bolts.
