If it was the fuel filter, why would it run better at higher RPMs and be intermittent? He might want to swap it anyway, but I'm just wondering.

CHAST!! Let's swap CID's next time. AND GET SOME FRESH GAS!!

CID was swapped out during the 60K I just did but I'm game for a quick swap.

I'll get another fuel filter and get some fresh gas in there. Looks like I'm working on this sucker again tonight.

I still gotta figure out the "Phantom Leak" I got going on as well.

That's right, I forgot.

We'll have to try it out at least.

If it is the CID, can't i just unplug it to see if it stops the sputtering?

I want to say I saw in a previous thread that you can unplug it and it should still run albeit without the sputtering/jumping tachometer.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, I'd hate to blow something up. :munch:

MOTOR SWAP!:dribble:

Only if I get to sit back, watch and drink beer while you do the swappin'

I don't want to have to deal with all that.

Seriously though, I thought I read a thread on the forum that said one way to find out if it is the CID going bad is you can unplug it and the car will still run....

I started the red headed step child again today....

No Phantom Leak this time. After letting it idle for maybe 5 minutes I could hear a misfire. It only happened maybe 2-3 times within 20 minutes but it was certainly missing...oh very so slightly.

I think I gotta replace the coil, wires and plug wires....Other than that, I don't know what would be causing the miss. I'm to the point that I'm going to start throwing parts at the SOB.

Any and all input is greatly appreciated. :hail:

I want to get her back on the road and be reliable as possible.

I've got about a quarter of a tank of gas still in the car. I'll be home by 6:30 tonight if you want to stop by and SHO me how it's done. :p

Since it's payday, I might just go ahead and get the coil, plugs, and wires today as well.

Next time you come over, I want to swap out MAF's as well. I think that's going to be the next part I throw at this friggin thing to relieve the stalling issue.

I would man but Amys Grand Parents are in town so we're having dinner with them tonight. I can probably swing by Sunday after I get done working on my buddy's Del-Sol.

I'll let you know:wave:

Gimme a call Bro you got my number. I cleaned the MAF sensor yesterday. Also picked up a new Dura-Crap coil pack. I'm going to pick up new plug wires (no one here in town had them in stock, they had to have them shipped from Jacksonville) along with spark plugs.

After removing the MAF and taking it a look at it, I think I might just go ahead and replace it.

I might do 02 sensors today also, I just need to go through the PO records and see if and when they have been replaced.

I'm at the point where I'm going to throw parts at it. :banghd:

UPDATE

Figured I'd do it since Chast is out of town.

I went over to his house yesterday to see how it ran with the new MAF. Still was missing bad and had NO power. Secondaries weren't working either.

Put fresh gas in it and drove for about 10 miles back to his house.

We pop the hood and we decide to change the coil pack.

Well, I went crazy and we ripped the intake off and did the the plugs and wires too!:woo-hoo:

The plugs were SHOT and starting to rust. Same for the wires and coil pack! So after that, I'm thinking we're ready to go. Start in up......and still missing!

I forgot to hook up the IAC:bonk: and the plug is wedged under the intake!

Anyway, hooked it back up and it was still missing. I then took the DIS off of my car and swapped it.

Car purrs like a kitten and runs great! Oh, but it does have the check engine light on and at 5500 rpm or higher, she hiccups/misses a little. We'll handle that another day!
