I have a 93 SHO automatic. Since I bought the car I never liked the way it shifted. Well today I went to take off form a stop sign, apparently there was alot of sand on the street. The tires started spinning and when I hit pavement and the tires grabbed road it ****** pretty hard. Well when coming home from work today when I would take off from a dead stop it would **** and shudder hard till I let off the gas a little. Is it time to rebuild the tranny. If so will it shift a little harder after rebuild, cause since i have owned the car it was a really soft shift that seemed to take a long time from 1st to 2nd, and how long will the rebuild hold up. Any body had one rebuilt and how much did it cost.Thanx

Not sure about other gears because I was almost home when I noticed it so took it real easy rest of the way home. I also have an 89 SHO manual. If tranny rebuild is too high I may think about swapping the auto for the 5 speed. Would like to hear from anybody who has done this. I was just gonna pull the motor and trans from the 89 anyway and part the rest out.

i just finished rebuilding mine, so far i have spend 450 canadian on rebuilding, that dosn't include the converter, that is going to cost another 200 bucks canadian,
so far i've spent 120 premium rebuild kit
100 or so Shift Tech AXOD-E kit(superior)
79 **** Damn AXOD (shift tech/superior)
10 thrust washer kit
45 3 acumulator Pins
i can't remember what else, i will have to look at my reciept, ow 45 american for a new ford valve body and solinoids (that was a score) see them on ebay for 350+ rebuilt. to rebuild it, depends on how bad it's blown up, mine was a mess, had to clean every nook and crany, taking my time, it took about a week, in total probably do it in 2 days easy, thats probably 16-20 hours, that dosn't include installing it. ow yeah with the shift correction package from superior it replaces all your acumulator springs, and intgermidiate servo spring, so you will have fast hard 1-2 shifts and there is a option for drilling a hole in the valve body plate bigger that will give you a firm 2-3 shift as well. the superior kit is by far one of the better out there, Trans GO has you use your old acumulator springs. didn't like that idea. anyhow good luck!:thumb:

Your rebuilding yours yourself? How about if I send you mine to rebuild:hail: .I noticed today driving home it seems mostly just 1st gear when I try to take off too fast, which I mean just normal. So I have to take off from dead stop kinda slow, but 2nd and 3rd seem fine.Im gonna make a list of parts you mentioned, because I would like a little harder shift from 1st to 2nd.Ive been hearing a rebuild having someone do it could cost from about $1500.00 to over $2000.00. Thanx for the info.

Does it shudder under acceleration during shifts or while going through the gear?

Are you sure you don't have a misfire? More often than not, acceleration issues between shifts are engine related, not trans related...
