Ok gents,

Stephen made a great suggestion for a new thread....what are you planning this spring for your V8?

I for one will be at the 1/4 track in about 2.5 weeks. 1st test-n-tune day. I am hoping to get 10-15 runs in. Should be fun. I'm going to be testing out my glasspack and seeing if I got some low/mid range torque back without losing the top end I gained when I took out the third cat.

Depending on the results...intake modifications. I currently have a shortened MAF and the SHOShop intake cone on. I'm planning a can around the 0940 cone to see if that can improve times. Not sure it will...but it will be interesting.

I'll most likely be doing a good wax and cleaning inside and out once the snow melts. Can't wait for spring...the roads here are very bad...its going to be June before they're all fixed.

No other mods planned...yet

What are your plans??

Hey, the V8 mail list is slow tonight so I finally stopped by and registered.
I've got big plans for the SHO this spring, last week I installed my UDP, Dynomax Thrush Turbo Mufflers, Porterized Intake, and Firestone SZ50 225/50/ZR16 tires. The tires are 1" shorter than stock which ups the gear ratio slightly for a little more low end grunt. I will also be bypassing the hot water that flows through the Throttle body, which will lower the air temp going into the intake.
Some wonderful person keyed my car a couple of months ago so one side of the car will be re-painted, at that time the body shop will also be replacing the black SHO badge on the back with a silver frost one and add two silver frost badges on the front doors.
I'm also waiting to see how the mass air gutting experiment turns out for a couple people on the list and as always there are a couple companys working on a chip, if one ever works I will be adding it to my SHO.
And finally the usual spring wax, polish and detail job. That was a mouthful, who's next?

Good to see you around here Scott.

I'll be looking for new tires around about June. I might have to go with the shorter ones also. Its going to be interesting seeing your times if you get to the strip.

That MAF gutting should also be interesting. I'm going to wait a couple of months to see if it works for everyone else. I might have to rip it out come early summer.

Weather permitting I will be at the track Friday May 4. Opening night for the street legal drags. We have them every second Friday all summer, its a great time. The atmosphere is a lot less formal than the racedays, just a bunch of guys having fun in their street cars.
I'm going to hold off on the MAF gutting too, until Mike and Paul figure out the benefits and long term results. Early reports sound promising though.

I don't see any reason for you not to go with the shorter tires. It lowers the car 1/2", handles awesome with the lower profile, and I'm sure it helped acceleration, but I can't say how much because I made a bunch of changes at the same time.

Springtime plans:
1) Mount 235/45/17 tires on the wheels I had on my 93. Then, mount said wheels and tires.
2) Intake modification, probably a modified "Porter" intake.
3) Install a S.A.R.C. switch.
4) Window tint.
5) Install various stickers/decals. (Tastefully)
6) Subwoofer (?)
7) Drive nowhere fast.

Yours sound good Wuzzzer. Cannot figure why

(see my mod profile

).

A couple of things. Why tint the windows? Is it to cut down on summer heat?

I was going to post a couple of digital photos I took of mine to try to show how the black on black SHO badges look just under the front of the rub strake, but have no idea how to attach a file in this reply system for the board. You guys have done this, so advise please?

It would be hard to overstate the effect of good tires on the windy back road use of this car. After I switched it took a good deal of playing around to figure out the best pressures, but at this point I have neutral steering across the range of speeds I normally use and remarkable adhesion.

The SARC cutout is also very nice, putting you immediately into full hard at it mode.

The rear bar, be it 26mm (too much for me, though I will keep mine in the garage just in case) or the 23mm seem to me to do more for confidence of feel on a windy road rather than actually improving handling. And the 26 really makes the back loose, so needs a lot of close attention.

My 93 had tinted windows and I liked the look. The fronts were tinted about 1/2 as dark as the backs were.
I guess I just like the look.

SASKSHO,
I'll be driving the black 2 door Tempo running low 14's!!! You can guess whats under the hood
smile.gif
(Dont laugh, I'm serious!!!)

Anyways, I doubt I'll have the SHO transplant done in time for this seasons racing but definitely next year. It all depends on how much spare time I can muster this spring/summer. I've never been to S.I.R and would love to go on a test and tune night for the street legal cars. Where can I request a race schedule?

Yeah I followed a link in one of your posts and saw your car and what you're planning. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.
