Just recently purchased a 91 SHO its been painted got some minor electrical issues, has 27 carfax reports on it. but what the **** the bottom 3 gears are fast as ****. i took her on the road on a quick trip down to philly from NY over the weekend and on 4 separate occasions there was a massive shaking in the front driver side. no shift or change in driving to cause it and nothing done to make it go away it simply just went away all 4 times. just wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this before. also one more thing while im posting, it seems that i have massive power loss on the highway cruising in 4th and then flooring it to pass someone has no kick and def not the power i have in the bottom 3, should i just downshift and pass at 65mph and 6k RPM or is there a problem with the engine thanks for any help this forum is a ton of help to me

Wow... So many questions.

1. Were you braking when the shaking started? I would check the rotors as they have a tendency to warp. With warped rotors I also experienced shaking without applying the brakes at hwy speeds. It was intermittant like yours.

2. Clean your maf for your sluggish feeling. Also check if your secondaries are stuck open. You could just be in need of a 60k.

If you search you will find the how to on pulling codes, checking your secondaries and doing a 60k and what it entails.

Good luck and welcome!

27 carfax reports would have scared me away, as it is more than just a lemon at that point, but I would start by looking at all those reported issues; the shaking in front end could be steering related; maybe tie rod, wheel bearing, sticking brake caliper. Jack the car up, grab top and bottom of tire; push with one hand while pulling with the other hand and vice versa, and feel for any slack; spin wheel as well and see if nay resistance or roughness. Engine power could be afermarket MAF or chip, or a number of other possibilities depending upon what the maintenance records are, if you have any.
