hi all,
i finally finished the '96 upgrade with drilled and slotted rotors and raybestos premium grade ceramic pads all the way around. after i did the fronts the brake pedal was fine. when i finished the rears i pushed in the pedals a couple of times like with the fronts but the full pedal doesn't seem to have come back like before. i used a tool to screw in the rear piston all the way just like the chilton manual says to do. i took it down the road and did 5 successive 60 to 5 mph stops with moderate braking and plan on letting it sit overnight to cure the pads. i know the rear brakes were working because the rotor was hot to touch. does it take longer for the rear caliper pistons to work back out to restore normal pedal feel. i had the brake fluid flushed before the upgrade with valvoline synthetic dot3-4 brake fluid. TIA

Did you bleed the calipers again after you installed the new pads? When you push the pistons back in, air can be introduced into the system. I just installed new front pads and had a spongy pedal until I bled both front calipers again. Now it's fine.

oddly enough everything was back up to ***** after setting overnight? i have improved pedal feel and i notice the rears contribute more now. i even had to slow down fast for a yellow light in the rain and didn't even activate the abs but was pleasantly surprised by how quickly it stopped. i have about $250 in this upgrade using '96 caliper brackets bought in the classifieds here, rotors from an ebay store on sale and brake pads from rockauto. can't beat that. now i'm ready to install my 26mm rear sway bar along with tpr endlinks and bushings. gonna do the rest of the suspension this fall. TIA

i hope the rotors are decent quality.

P.S bleed your brakes anyways. it takes a couple min's a corner with somone pushing the pedal for you.
