The top grill was easy once the front bumper was removed, but the lower grill was a major PITA. My friend and I had to cut some of the plastic inside the lower grill to make the mesh flush. Also, the mesh had to be in 4 individual pieces, moulded around those bars that run vertically in the lower grill. We drilled some holes for some silver bolts, and got it all finished as it got dark.

I personally think it looks good, especially because my SHO is silver. Let me know what you think. :thumbs_u:

Now that's what I call a bug screen!
I officially dub your SHO the 'Fly Swatter'

Looks sharp! Let's see a daylight pic, though.

Where did you get the mesk for the grill?

It looks great, but what material did you use to make the grill? I want to try to make a billet style grill, but I know that will talke a little more time than I have. I am just trying to find some options. I am not fond of the big opening around the Ford insignia. I would like something to take up the empty space. Please let me know. Thanks.

I got mine at Menard's, which is similar to Lowe's or Home Depot or Ace Hardware. Basically just go to your local hardware store and look for mesh that looks appealing to you. Mine came in 6"x3' strips and was called "Hinged gutter guards." I just did a google search for hinged gutter guards and there are some links.

So, if you want it identical to mine, ask for hinged gutter guards. Otherwise just choose what looks good to you. :thumbs_u:

Daytime pics as promised:

And here's a close up of the bends around the vertical spacers. It's unfortunate, but that's what had to be done. Not noticeable unless you're really close.

I don't know what the previous owners did, but I don't like how they chipped up the front bumper cover.

Go to a hardware store and buy some mesh that fits your liking. I used some mesh that's called "hinged gutter guard". Decide if you're going to spray paint your mesh black or anything other than the silver it comes as.

Remove front bumper cover. Check here if you need help: http://www.v8sho.com/SHO/RemovingtheFrontBumper.htm

Take the (6) screws out that hold the Ford emblem assembly in place. Cut out a piece of mesh that's a few inches bigger than the empty oval in all directions. Screw the mesh in using the six screws, and fold the excess mesh over the outside sides of the oval.

Now look at the lower grill. It's split into four sections by vertical separators that are body color underneath the black snap-ons. It's your choice if you want to remove the snap-ons or not. Here comes the tricky part. Look on the inside of the middle bar that runs horizontally, you will notice that one inside edge extends deeper back than the others. You need to cut each section of that edge so that it's flush and matches the curve of the others. This means you'll have to make four separate cuts with a Dremel or equivalent cutting device.

Then you need to cut out four pieces of mesh that overlap each edge of each section a little bit. Mold each piece of mesh to fit the curve of the inside edges, make slits in the mesh so that you can fold the excess over in a neat way. Cut off any mesh that goes more than halfway across its respective separaters, so that you'll have room to fit in the piece of mesh that goes next to it.

Once you have your four pieces of mesh cut and moulded to each section of the lower grill, you need to drill some holes in the upper and lower portions of the grill. You can see that I used four bolts for each section on the last daytime picture. Use as short of bolts as you can, plus a washer and a nut. You may need to (I had to) cut what was left of the upper bolts after going through the washer and nut, so that they have enough clearance when putting the bumper cover back on the bumper. Otherwise, the bolts will dig into the styrofoam on the bumper, and it's quite difficult to carve out the styrofoam in exactly the right spots.

Make sure that all of the excess mesh in all locations is folded down around the edges so that there's clearance when putting the bumper cover back on.

Do a happy dance. :****:
