Hello everybody. My speedometer has been acting up recently. On the highway it jumped from 70 to 100 to 80 in like a second or two. Does anybody know what the issue could be?
They are funny when they start to wear out. Once it breaks the mileage will stay low. Trick i do on my classic cars, run with it unplugged. Keeps miles low lol
Disconnect the speedo cable from the back of the cluster and spray silicone lubricant down into the cable. That will smooth it out and it will perform flawless. I've used silicone on all my speedo cables for the last 10 years or so.
There is an upper and lower speedo cable. At the split, I think you would be able to get lubricant into the lower end of the upper cable and then lift it up so it flow back towards the cluster. The only time I had to access the upper cable and disconnect it from the cluster is when it failed.
