Ok i looked around and couldnt find a thread that could help me so here it is. My speedo stopped workin about a year ago and doesnt seem to wanna come back to life. I replaced the vss and the core and lubed the cable. The only thing i can think it could be would be the speedometer drive gear in the transmission. Does anyone have a part number for that or disagree with my thought? Also i know its not the cable cause i hooked a drill to the end and watched the speedometer move.

You can remove the lower cable (at the VSS) and then run the car in gear. You should see the speedo gear drive (where the lower cable plugs into the VSS) turning. If the end does not turn, your next step is to remove the entire VSS from the case half.

I sold one to a member the other day, it is a pain to remove, put some WD40 to loosen it up, once its out, the plastic drive gear will probably be smooth or missing teeth
