Ok, I was in the process of replacing my odometer cluster face plates on my 95 MTX, and the gas, temp, and tach needles came off fine. But I couldn't get the speedometer gauge to come off, so I just left it on. After putting it back together I noticed that the speedometer didn't work any longer, just barely bounced around but I know I was going faster than it said. I did spray a little, little, wd40 on it to try and get it off, but to no avail.
All the other gauges work fine, and the odometer works, but not the speedometer?
Any tips or suggestions?
Thanks,

Sounds like the needle is pushed against the face plate? Try using two flat screwdrivers to pry the needle up away from the gauge.

I tried that didn't work. I had sprayed some wd40 on it to hopeufully loosen it, but it didn't budge. After a couple of hourse it dried up, I guess, and started working, but it is way off and after reading many other posts, the only think I can think of is that I may have hosed the cable, I got a replacement today and will try that.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
doh

I think I may have found the problem, there is a small retaining spring behind the needle. It is between the faceplate and the cervo, or what every you call it, that returns the needle to the 0 position. It appears all screwed up, I am attempted to straighten it, but may just have to buy a new console.
Thanks for the input!
