While on my way home from work, my speedometer was at 35 mph. All of the sudden jumped up to 60 really fast for a quick milli-second and then went to zero and has not moved a bit since! Further observation notes that my odometer, and mileage ticker are not working either. I had my vehicle speed sensor replaced a month ago, so I doubt that would be the issue? What do you guys think?

I would have to say the cable broke.

Thanks guys for the input... :salute:

Quick question --> If I place my SHO on my rhino ramps today, and get underneath can I somehow simply either SEE or FEEL the cable where it joins the VSS? Not sure exactly where it is on my automatic SHO, but I want to confirm the cable is the culprit & re-attach if I can...

No reason to put it on ramps, you can access it right from the top. Just follow it where it comes out of the firewall down to the tranny.

True it does come out of the firewall and has a coupler about six inches from the firewall but that second cable travels down and over to the passenger side where it connects to the VSS, I sure dont follow how you can access it from the top there. Maybe Anonymous has a MTX and they are set up different. I have the same problem and just havent got around to fixing it. First pull that coupler near the firewall and rule out that its not the upper cable that has the problem, once you unattach it spin the cable with your fingers and see if the odometer or speedo shows any movement. If so you can rule out the upper cable and focus on the lower. I plan to reach it from underneath and try to reattach it by feel, Its kind of hard to say in words where its at, theres some pics posted awhile back by Beth that show it and more than a couple of post describing how to locate it.
Good Luck....maybe Ill try and work on mine today, then again in the meantime not putting any more new miles on my car aint so bad either

Sorry, my bad, I was thinking MTX.

Yeah, the ATX upper cable connects to the lower by the tranny dipstick, then meanders along the top of the tranny to the VSS. A little more complicated to check, but certainly not impossible. I would however recommend skipping the ramps and just use a jack and stands so you can take the RF wheel off which might help you get at it better if it needs to be reconnected at the VSS.
