What is a wooed sensor? The speedo not working will have something to do with the ABS system, as this is how the car reads it's speed (it has no VSS). Check for ABS codes.

So does anyone know where the VSS is located on a 97SHO? I'm getting two diff things. 1-its located on the tranny and I have to drop the Y pipe and cats to change it. And 2-that the sho's do not have a VSS and that its a wheel sensor. I read the code it comes up VSS,bought a new from autozone for a 97 SHO. So who can tell which one it really is.........

Here's the problem. Autozone wouldn't know if it had a VSS or not. There is a turbine speed sensor on the passenger side of the trans case, but that doesn't control the speedo. Post up what the actual code was and we can help you more. Saying you have a VSS code in a Gen 3 SHO is of no help whatsoever.

It reads P0500, now the Abs light is on. There is no problem with shifting or brakes. The speedo does not work or the cruise. Sorry its just madding when there are so many different things posted on it.

im a former seinor master ford tech and a transmission builder at that the vss on my 1999 sho is in the top middle of the case and it plugs in by the dipstick tube on the drivers side and you do have to drop the y pipe to replace it there is a 8mm headed bolt that holds the sensor in and sheild in place that hides it from view. the early ones had a vss sensor in the end of the case above the axle still have to drop y pipe for them that sensor is gear driven off the diff the one in the center of the case reads a reluctor like the abs sensor

I haven't stayed at a Holiday Inn Express in years, but one time I did and that makes me even more qualified to say that there is no VSS on any '96-'99 SHO (excluding the MTX cars).

I have replaced both the ABS sensor in the front(where I'm told the SHO gets it speed from) and nothing. Still throwing the VSS code and ABS lite still on, and speedo still not working. Just looking for some help not smart comments.

So...its fixed. I checked all the wiring and sensors but never thought to check the fuses. Found the ABS fuse was poped....never figured that.

Good deal. Glad it was simple. I told you it was an ABS problem...... Now hopefully the fuse doesn't blow again.....
