I have an odd inquiry and hope one of you can point me in the right direction. After 12 wondeful years of the car, I recently sold my '94 to my brother for his son who is starting to drive. I warned them about the power the car has, but they really wanted it. Now after "Mom" has driven the car, they have asked me if it's possible to limit how fast the car goes. Her feeling is let it be fast enough not to get run over on the highway, but that's all it needs to offer. Has anyone ever tried to slow one of these down like this? This is an automatic trans car.
Thanks for your help.

Pull the two wire clip on the solenoid that controls the secondaries located on the rear of the manifold, that should limit their fun.

Theoretically, select vendors within the community could program a chip that would alter the vehicle speed control parameters on your '94 ATX. This would quite effectively prevent your nephew from exceeding a predetermined vehicle speed. However, the chip would cost several hundred dollars and could be easily removed by said nephew with the right foreknowledge.

In lieu of that, one could always resort to any number of scare tactics... ;)

Adam has the right idea here. A chip, depending on who you get one from (only 2 options) can be tuned to your desire.

If you need to get ahold of someone to do so contact

I would imagine price would be about the same. In all fairness as well, its worth the price to pay a few hundred dollars to keep your nephew safe, especially if he would push the limits without knowing what to do with it.

Hope I helped

I like the simple solution of disconnecting the secondaries. I think that's a good start. I don't know if that would be enough. In the time that I drove the car, the number of times the secondaries were opened, is pretty limited. To me, the car had more than enough get-up-and-go for normal driving without having to bear down on the throttle that much. I don't have to worry about him tinkering with the car as he's not very mechanically inclined(yet). Perhaps start with the secondaries while contemplating having a chip burned.
Thanks to all who responded. I appreciate your input.

pulling the secondaries won't help much, low end power kinda sucks, but not a huge difference. It will still go 120, I did before I notice they were stuck.
