I haven't really had the time to crack open my owners manual (not sure I ever had for any car, lol), but there is a chime when I hit 75mph. I can back off the speed and accelerate, and it'll chime again. Particularly irritating when you're on a phone call and holding a conversation.
Is there an adjustment for this or some way to turn it off?

I was being a smart a**, I think (I can't remember for sure) that all you have to do is cycle through the setting in the info displayed below the speedometer and when it gets to speed alert just switch it from on to off.

I didn't see a "speed alert" setting on the info screen, but will look when I get back to NJ next week.
Thanks.

The speed thing is not on the Nav screen its in the information center display in the gauge cluster...I believe it's below the speedometer. but in same pod.

I can't find anything in manual about what you are describing, nor being displayed in the information center. If you are using nav, depending on how you have it set up, you might get warnings about school zones, work areas, accidents on your route. I've ran with the nav unit and been above 80, with no warnings. In fact, I've never heard a speed warning even above the century mark.

It is first mentioned on page 29 in the "CHECK SPEED DRIVE SAFELY" section. (IN the 2010 manual. It then goes into detail on page113 in the "MYKEY" section. You must be using an admin key to get to the optional settings. Then on page 114 on the lower half of the page under "Programming MyKey Optional Settings" the procedure for turning off the warning is explained. Hope this helps.

Awesome, I'll check it out when I get back. I don't think either of the MYKEY's are programmed, and it shows both "ADMIN" keys in use.

I know I shut mine off myself, so it's got to be easy to do. Otherwise, I would have screwed it up. Technology is usually not my friend.:banghd:

:hail:I saw the "MY Key" programming, but since I don't have any key programmed to use it, the speed chime never came up. Thanks for pointing this out as I just skipped that part of the manual. RayJay, as far as the opther speed shime, there's always "Duct Tape!:angelnot:

The speed alarm technology is pretty old. They offered it since the Taurus came out in 86 (except on the older models it was only if you had a digital cluster).

Yep, old tech, just implemented differently and updated...still works... my grandmothers 1977 Buick Limited had it, though it worked a little differently. There was a small needle on the speedometer, and when the dial hit that, a buzzer sounded. It was adjusted with a small lever under the steering column.

Actually I remember my best friend's father had a 67 Chrysler that had a speed alarm. I'm pretty sure that the alarm dates back to the mid-fifties.
