I couldn't seem to find an answer to questions 1 & 2 after searching past threads. Forgive me if I missed it.

1. The front of my intake is rubbing the underside of my hood. Which motor mount is moste likely the culprit?
2. Is this the reinforced MM that Sho Brothers offer? Will it solve this?
3. Can this MM be installed by a DIY'er with decent skills or does it require specialized equipment?

Thanks.

1. Front
2. Yes
3. Yes(no specialized equipment)

To double check the motor mounts:
Turn car on
Put e-brake on
while in first gear, slowly release the clutch. Not all the way, just enough so it starts to grab.
Do the same for reverse.

If the motor rocks back while in first, its the front mount. If it rocks forward while in reverse, its the rear mount.

The rear mount is alittle harder to do than the front. I'd recomend doing both mounts at the same time.

Josh, Thanks. I'll check that tonight.

So, there are only two mounts? A front and back? (I haven't really looked).

Three Roll Dampners, Two Motor mounts, and a tranny mount.....

Roll dampners are the "shock" like mounts that are attached to the two motor mounts and one on the trans mount. They are olny found on the MTX, and can be removed upon installation of HD MM's.

The trans mount is fine stock, but for what its worth, I've gone ahead and coated mine with poly-urathane to help limit movement. Again, not that big of a deal with HD MM's, but I like the added "solid-ness" it gave the car. BTW, my MM's are damn near soild. I have 4 grade 8 bolts going through each mount and are welded as well. My motor does not move at all. :naughty:

Wow, I guess it wouldn't. Does a lot of vibration come through the chassis with that setup?

Yes, but I do have Aluminum Subframe Bushings as well. Not as much as a Solid mount car, but it will still shake the mirror at idle. I have had a few people(non-car people) say, "hey man, it feels like your motor is gonna blow up or something" ... but its not all that bad. however when I went for a ride in my buddy's ATX it was a WHOLE different car. Granted the mounts on the ATX are different, but still....

wow i would say this is a pretty indepth job. i had to drop my y-pipe, pull the lower radiator hose, set up the under hood cradle to support everything and then hassle with the mount for like an hour and a half before finally getting it slide out. i had to totally disassemble the shock assembly attached to it and even then it barely slid out. then i had the amazing task of finding a bolt that would fit because some how one fell out of my old mount. i went to three different auto parts stores before going to a hardware store and just matched threads and legths. over all it was a huge pain in the ass. i would recomend to anyone who lost a motor mount at any time to look at the main wiring harness that runs right in front of the motor between the radiator because mine got rubbed through from the motor movement. so that took me another hour and a half to remake all the power cables from new guage lines. but it looks damn good now.

Uh, yeah, that doesn't looke like a real self-esteem builder. I need to replace all my A/C parts under hood so looks like that may be a good time to swap the MM too. I was already planning on doing a new radiator at that time as well. Mine leaks like a sieve.

I think she'll be out of service for a while.
