I was trying to locate a bad/crackling speaker the other day and I found it---the passenger side dash speaker! Seems odd but I thought premium and JBL systems didn't have dash speakers and only used the front door speakers? I think the problem is that I have a regular standard stock Ford am/fm cassette unit in mine since I couldn't find a good working premium deck. I am guessing also that by not using the amp, my sound is rerouted to these speakers?

My brother is **** bent on putting my old stock head unit from my old 93 in the 90. He found the jumper plug to make it work. I also pulled a slave cable from the j/y in case I decide to hook up a factory CD to it. We also pulled a Gen 2 amp so it would work.

I am assuming that when I plug in the Gen 2 amp, install the 93 premium deck, and jumper plug that the sound will again be routed through the door speakers...is this correct?

I did alot of searching but mostly found people wanting to bypass the Ford amp for aftermarket stuff.

Either way, I need new speakers all the way around for the car and they can be had reasonably cheap from Crutchfield. (I like them over buying from Ebay because they include the wiring harnesses and installation instructions.)

My advice is to fix the defective speaker and don't change anything else unless you are really unhappy with it. When I bought my 95, the guy had an aftermarket unit with the video screen and you name it. He wanted to keep all that stuff, and I wanted him to keep it as well. He re-installed the legitimate dash unit for me. When I picked it up, he told me that when he put the original one back in - the whole sound system came alive again and it never sounded better. The stock system is nothing to sneeze at, and it is a lot better than people give it credit. Reuse the amp and everything else and it will be great. I wouldn't be surprised if all those speakers (the ones you think are extras) were in use all along.
