after racing a friend of mine in his v8 t bird . he could see from his four to five car lenght behind me distance that my front brakes were sparking a lot, when i was braking hard. they are new rotors and pads and i got the rock shields taken off so any ideas what it could be. it seems to brake great and i couldn't notice the sparks but i was going over a hundred at  2 in the morning

It could be just the heated brake dust blowing off the rotor. Thta could look like sparks. Was it heavy braking. Like going from 100 to 50 in a short amount of time? Why don't you pull off the wheels to see if you can see anything out of ordinary. I don't know about by you, but it's been pretty wet and rainy lately here in Bolingbrook.

Sparks coming off of brakes is not a good thing. You should remove the calipers and check the integrity of the pads. See if they are still there and if there are any foreign substances imbedded in them. Also check the rotors to see if there is any grooving that would indicate a very hard spot in the pads. Sparks mean very hot metal ane that shouldn't be happening.

4-5 car lengths behind?
Are you sure it was sparking from the brakes?
I have been behind a line of SHOs going 115mph and saw sparks,,,it was the catalyst from the cat and was puffing and sparking all over the place..the loss was not noticed immediately and this SHO belonged to a very knowledgeable owner...I just swore I saw it sparkin'
If you were burning up your brakes, you would smell them and the heat from the corners is very noticeable, ask me how I know this,,better still, ask Lucille.
:D
