Has anyone here used the Bosh Platinum +4 spark plugs in their gen 3? How are they? I read that you can not gap them, is the gap correct for these cars? thanks

People have used all types of Bosch plugs, a lot have had problems with them, some have not.

To be on the safe side, if it were mine I'd use the Motorcraft replacements.

The new plugs have superseded the OEM ones. I like the Autolite XP 103s. Rockauto.com will get you the plug you want though for the cheapest.

Yes - I use them constantly.

Bosch part # is 4458. No, you don't gap them - they are pregapped.

I have well over 1000 of them installed in many V8 SHO's since 2002 without any troubles. Your mileage may vary.

I do not know if anyone has used them, but I like th e3 plugs on my lawn equipment. When it comes time to do the SHO, I think I will try them. The part number is E3.54.

I have the +2's in my car now and I don't like them. I am going to change them soon and go back to the original Motorcraft plugs.

Every time a SHO comes in with a misfire that has Bosch plugs installed, the first thing we do is throw them in the garbage and install either Motorcraft or Autolite plugs. Almost always resolves the misfire.

Early on when I first started working on these cars, customers would request or bring their own Bosch plugs to install, and without fail they would all come back back within a few weeks complaining about a misfire.

The bigger question is WHY someone would want to install Bosch plugs to begin with? Motorcraft and Autolite plugs are readily available for less than $3/each, and Bosch plugs are much more expensive than that. Are you buying their stupid marketing claims or expecting huge power gains from a stupid gimmick spark plug?

FWIW, I run COPPER AWSF32C plugs in my car, get close to 30mpg on long trips, and put down 210hp at the wheels. Yeah, I have to replace them every year (takes me all of about 20 minutes), but I paid $20 for a box of 100 on eBay a few years ago.

Per your advice Chris, I'm running Autolite coppers in the 92. 3924's. Been in there for a year, and checked them when I swapped intakes before the convention. Still in very good shape.

what is the part number for the motorcraft replacement?

The stock Motorcraft part # is AWSF 32FM.(am I right here chris?) Now the part # might be updated but the parts house will know. I do recommend the exact stock plugs as they are platinum and will last a long time. Change them with the mileage you feel comfortable with or what the owners manual says. I also agree with chris as I also run the copper eqivilant(I kind of foreget but one step colder) but that is to spray a shot of nitrious once in a while. (well if I had a good torque converter seal! lol!) Could I tell a difference in performance by the seat of the pants when I done this years ago. NO. You may(may) see a difference on a dyno(1-2 hp) but never know it yourself. But for a stock engine or with any mod besides nitrious I would run the stock platinum plug. I do think they may run smoother with less miss fires.
