Pajtoledo, I appreciate your comment and agree that they should be 2.0 to 3.1mm I guess it is my engineering bent caused me screw up the dimension when converting from mm to inches since I was not able to find a mm feeler gauge.

Local Kawasaki dealer, shims that fit KLR 650 are 29.0 mm. Call around, some sell them for $3 to $4, some want $20. Note: Be aware that some bikes use 29.6 mm shims - avoid those.

Kawa or Yamaha dealers have these. They usually goes in some mid 80s bikes.

The only thing with the Yam ones , its that they come in 10 increments instead of 5 like the OEM sho ones.

bmw motorcycle dealers also carry them. can't remember the size increments though.

I fondly recall going over to a Yamaha dealer with Matt when we were installing my stage 1 cams and told the counter guy we need some shims for a 3.0 liter Yamaha.
