I have a '92 black on black unit that didn't come with a CD player. I had thought about getting an aftermarket unit but have been advised against it. I'm one of the lucky few who gets to use their POV for work (Public Safety) and I'll have to move my radios but that's no big deal. If anyone has a CD player that they're willing to part with or if they can steer me towards a place where I can obtain one, I'd really appreciate it. Oh, and maybe a couple of rims too.

Instead of adding a CD player, consider adding a 3.5mm jack and buying a CD/MP3 player. You can retain the empty bay below the radio, and nobody has to know you can play CD's.

You can get your hands on a good CD & MP3 player and the connectors to add the jack for as little as $50-60. Considering how few factory CD players are still around, they tend to get more than they're really worth.

If you want any more info on what I've done, look at the link below or e-mail me.

Thanks to everyone who's taken time out to provide information. Please be advised, I'm sort of new to this whole e-mail thing and quite often my job doesn't allow me to take the necessary time out to maintain comm via e-mail. Be patient with me and I'll respond to all as fast as I can. For others, No, I'm not looking for a new head unit unless that can be accomplished fairly easily and cheaply. Basically, all I want is bigger, louder sound and CD capability. My neice just gave me a portable CD player with a thing that goes inside the tape deck. Not what I was looking for but it does the job for now. Now I need to locate some appropriate background music to set the dispatcher even more on edge. Thanks everyone. Keep the ideas coming! Joe

I have a gen 1 CD player and radio/tape head unit that will be going on ebay next week. Its from a '90 SHO. I also have the amps(sub and full range) to go with it. The CD player and radio/tape look brand new with no cracks or fading buttons. All in perfect working condition. If you need any of the parts I'll be willing to sell it to you before putting it on Ebay. If you need pictures I have those too. you can contact me at [email protected] . Give me a good offer and I be more than willing to hook you up.
