I'm new here, so if this stuff has been answered before; sorry. Lately it seems like my SHO, a 92 MTX with about 105k on the odometer, is having second thoughts when it comes to opening up the secondaries. It just seems like it pauses for a second around 3700-3800rpm then when the secondaries finally open it decides to take off, as long as the torque is still climbing. Also sometimes during WOT I will hear a sound similar to a turbo whine. I also can't seem to get the 2nd and 3rd gear scratches like I used to. Its feels so different now, but then again I have been driving a supercharged 5.0 around lately. I'm a college boy so money is of a good deal of concern, but I do have about 5k to spend on fixing problems. By the way is the SHO Shop stage1 power pack a good deal? I'm getting tired of having the huge fall off of power above 6k. Any help would be much appreciated.

A well maintained SHO will run GREAT all the way up to the red line........don't look into mods unless ur SHO is in the best shape it can be in.

Has the engine ever had the valve gapping checked, the spark plugs replaced or the timing belt changed? These are required at the 60,000 mile mark for the 3.0L SHO engine (60K service) and are considered as preventative maintenance. sticking to the required maintenance schedule can prevent the loss of sharp performance of the type that you may be experiencing. use the search feature of the Forum and look up a great deal of information and pictures on these services and the parts that can be replaced during them.

My black SHO used to fall off at around 6200RPM when stock too. When I put my PP y-pipe on the power would stay all the way to redline. It had all of the regular maintenance done including the 60K. My '91 plus pulls strongly all the way to redline even though it is stock, but not quite as much as the black one with its PP y-pipe. Is the sound a turbo whine or more of a turbo hissing sound?
