Some stupid ***** decided to open their door and let it hit my drivers door!!!

I didn't notice it till I was washing her today. You can tell it was a door hit, because it is right under the driver side mirror and then on the trim that is half way down the door. The 2 dents are straight up/down from each other. It's a decent dent about 2 inches long and about 1/2 inch wide. The trim (part that kinda stands out more like a molding) is dented as well as scratched pretty good.

My questin is this:

Has anyone ever tried that "Ding King" that you see on T.V. ?? The main dent under the mirror doesn't appear to have any scratches with it just a dent. It looks to me like it "could" be pulled out. Do ya'll think this is possible? You can get the "Ding King" on e-Bay for about $13-$20 + S/H. What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance for the advice. Also, If you ever see someone hit someone else's car door and walk away or not leave a note, !!Smack 'Em Up Side the Head For Me!!

Thanks

I haven't actually done it myself but two of my friends HAVE tried the "ding things" with fair results. You can still see small blemishes on the panels where the crease was deepest but it does look much better.
Just a thought - will your insurance company waive your deductible if you take it to a professional dent remover? Their tools and skills are better than a hobbiests and they will achieve much better results. Kind of like how they waive deductibles for repairing chipped windshields instead of replacing them. Worth a try. ood luck either way. :)

The dent king MIGHT! work... but it can also peal the paint or you could pull it out to far. I've used the dent king and IMO I don't think it works that well. I have a kit that does just about the same thing but it works alot better. It also costs alot more. For 13 bucks though it may be worth it to try it out, just take your time and be carefull

I know a guy that used one on a Grand Cherokee. It Didnt work (maybe because the ZJ doors are strong as ****, to get a dent in the first place is near impossible). all it did was pop off without pulling any dent.

I suggest trying to get your Insurance company to waive the deductible.

Me too, either that or I just park where no one else will.

I just don't park next to SUVs and coupes with huge doors. I try to park next to compact sedans with doors that don't extend into the next spot. Or I just park in the boonies and huff it in to wherever im going.

well i havent tried it but i know people that have and it is a pain in the ass, you actually have to use a hot glue gun to adhere the device then you pull using a counter-clockwise motion, and it is very time consuming cause you will have to do it more than 5 times for optimum results...so do your self a favor and take it to a paintless dent repaur shop it will not cost as much as you think they degree the dent using a special tool and then give you a price. most of the time being under $50 with better results that the ding **** king...

and word of advive i always try to part next to other nice cars cause they wont hit you anymore that you will them

Thanks for the advice!! I've talked to some guys at work and they don't like the Ding King either. So I think I'll see what a dentless repair would cost, but I will also contact my insurance company first.

I have been parking way far away from other people and I am also being the **** and taking up more than 1 parking spot!!!!

It used to be called "vette" parking. I, unfortunately, also subscribe to that selfish theory. However, I do it in remote places. If you wanna park next to me, bring your Nikes. thumbs_u

Doing that can actually make people want to do stuff to your car more. Such examples are dings, keying, and other not so nice things! Check out this link from v8sho.com, its actually quite informative Parking Lot Problems

I just recently got an oil change from Darcars because I bought the free oil change for life thing, and whenever I want, they will wash my car for free. Yesterday, they stopped putting the cars through the carwash because they said that ice was forming on the bristles and was scratching up cars. Apparently, mine was one of the last ones to go through, and now I have scratches all over my hood!!! That f*in dealership is gonna pay! squint
