So finally got around to taking pics of the speedo that I pulled from the SHO when I bought it.

Decal says Canadian SHO, which it should, but it has a SLO speedometer in it with an 8k tach. Either someone went to a lot of trouble and put a different speedometer in it, or it was 120mph the entire time. Anyone EVER seen something like that before?

I parted a 98 that had a 120 in it about 2 years ago. I just thought it was probably changed at some time in it's life

Nothing unusual at all. In order to legally import a Canadian car back into the US, the speedo and odo have to be changed to MPH by a dealer, and that's probably the speedo head they ordered. The other gauges are the same regardless, and '99 SHOs and SLOs did not have a red line on the tach.

Alright good, it's what I figured. I still don't understand the no redline in the tach on the 99's.

Just wish I had the Km cluster, that'd be pretty neat to have.

Another thing is on the carfax it reads the first half of its life is in km then about three years ago it switches over to miles. After some calculation on my part I came out with about 75k miles currently. I will never be exactly sure though.

That's interesting, up here in Canada, to get a car through an out of country inspection, we do not require a speedo change to KPH, the only things that need to be added on if they didn't have them already, is Daytime running lights and child seat anchors.

out of curiosity, would plugging in the 120MPH cluster in place of the 150MPH cluster make the speed reading off by that missing 30MPH? I know in a vehicle with a speedo cable it would, but since this is electronic Im not sure. I would assume not considering Chris said its a common occurrence. Just one of those useless little things thats bugging me after reading this thread.
