Well I went and picked me up a SHO today
My favorite part is the engine and the scribble graffiti on the block.

and I ended up not with a ATX and have a 5spd :swing:

Runs great for 173k miles just needs a little fixing of cosmetic stuff here and there. Has minimal body rot; what should I do to fix that? (It's behind the side skirts)

Pictures Fail but I'll get better ones by mid next week :D

Wow, how much did you pay for that? It looks good! And, if you get tired of / can't clean off the graffiti on the valve cover, it's pretty easy to change it for an unmolested one.

Welcome to the forum! All I can say right now is, start perusing through the forums and the sickies in each one, then make sure you look at the "How-To" section; there is a butt ton of useful information.

Go to http://www.shosource.com or http://www.rcmautomotive.com for SHO specific parts vendors that can help you out with whatever you need. http://www.rockauto.com sells a lot of items for the car at cheap prices, but they are an everything site, so you won't get any help from them regarding how-tos.

Check out http://www.shophoenixproject.com for detailed guides on maintenance, with pictures. Good luck!

$2k :nut: the high end of my spectrum I was willing to pay
but its the best one in the area I could find for being mechanically sound.

The bodywork does show its 16 years of age in some areas but hey it lasted pretty well for a car thats been around here.

First thing I'll have to do is to clean up the interior some. I found the leather cleaning/restoring thread and will get cracking on that after this weekend.

Second is fix the loosey drivers door panel; dunno if the tabs are broken or what but it looks like it just wasn't reinstalled correctly.

Third; I'm not too sure what to do after that..

I'm not liking the magnaflow mufflers.. too loud for me (I'm sure theres louder on the road) and sounds too much like a fartcan..

The paintjob and body work too I'm split on deciding what to do with it. There's some rot behind the side skirts at the rear wheel well and one small hole in the passenger quarter but nothing huge. Little chips and dings here and there.
But the beauty of not fixing the body up is well if it gets scratched, dinged again, or whatever its no big deal. But then.. it doesn't look GREAT but its alright I suppose.

Yeah that car deserves a better photoshoot. Id like to say I helped instigate the purchase lol. Not a bad car for the price.

Yea... watch that rust.. It'll be pretty bad in 2 years... thats about what mine looked like before those side skirts didn't have anything else to hold them up but the zip ties I had hidden behind there.. :) Not to say it can't be fixed now.. the sooner the better... that paint looks great to me... lotta color in it.. must have been garaged... I'd see about fixing that rust, and hitting that car with a wheel and making it shine.. I bet some sort of adhesive remover and a razor blade would get rid of the scribbles.. ;)

At 170k tho, I'd be real anxious to get a pan gasket, and some rod bearings.. just in case..

If it still has the stock resonator, you may consider getting another one (or two) resonators/glasspacks welded in there. That will mellow it out, ****/reduce the rasp, and let you keep the good mufflers.

The valve cover graffiti stays; It's my favorite part.

I think I'll tackle the rust first after the interior cleaning dunno what to do though

Any signs that would show that I would need the pan gasket and rod bearings real soon?

I'm in the Wollaston area. Near the white gen2 sho that you've posted about seeing.
I looked at that rocker repair thread; no way in **** I have the capacity, tools, and ability to do that

Sounds expensive.. no funds left for now
I'll remember that though whatever it is to reduce the rasp or give it a deeper tone I'll have to do

Ryan let that car go for less than 2K... somebody made some money on it. It's still a good price considering the upgrades, though. Nice buy.

Welcome to the forum. The next time NESHO has a gathering, you should come on out.

Ya a big or a couple small resonators should make it sound good. I have magnaflows on my car and a huge resonator it sounds pretty good. And not too loud.
