I do not possess an ATX SHO, so I'm not sure which transmission(s) they use from Ford.

Needless to say I have the opportunity to possibly get an ATX SHO with a pretty shot transmission.

I currently have a SLO with an AXOD transmission that's only 40k miles old and runs like a champ.

Could I bolt the ATX transmission from the SLO directly to the SHO? If an adapter plate or frabrication is needed then it's out of the question; I'm just wondering if it's even possible :thumb:

Thanks

Mine has an AXOD-SHO. What the difference is, I don't know. Probably just stronger and able to handle the tq/hp of the SHO.

Don't bother...you'll just end up with two cars and two bad transmissions...

Could you elaborate on that? What are the major differences?

I'm curious since I own a '97 GL with the AX4S (i.e., the AXOD-E).

Valve body is different and probably has some slight differences with the drums and the such, but the major part is the valve body is different.

From what I understand, Ford had a heck of a time developing an automatic transmission that could handle the SHO powerplant. If the SLO tranny worked, Ford would have built SHO's with autos from day one in 1989 instead of waiting untill 1993 to offer SHO's with a beafier atuomatic tranny. I don't know the difference, but I do know the SHO should be mated to SHO tranny.
