Most of you know the deal with my AC. This means, if I don't have the AC fixed in a month, I'm not driving all the way to Indy and back in this car! I thought about toughing it out, then I thought about how I could get away a lot cheaper by not doing any of the events (tracks, etc). I also have a rear motor mount that I have to somewhere find time to reinforce and install, plus a crapload of other minor things. Long story short, I don't think my car is going to be convention-ready this year because I've been way too busy to take care of these things.
BUT! I still plan on going, and I figured these are my options. I can bum a ride with one of you guys and pay for some gas, or I have a friend up near Chicago (89SHOmike) that is planning on driving his car down and I thought about seeing if I could fly up to Chicago and just drive down with him, then go home with him (ok that sounded bad) and fly back after it's over. I haven't even talked to him about that option yet, so I'd have to see if that'd work for him, plus if I don't get a plane ticket right away, that's going to cost me even more than just driving my car up there. But if I did it that way, that will put you guys on your own as far as caravaning goes, since I was supposed to head up the caravan.
I have already reserved a room at the LaQuinta, and so far if I remember correctly, Brian has snagged the other bed and Roy has claimed the floor for the few days he said he's going to be there. The room is a non-issue.
So what should I do? A) Fly to Chicago and ride down with Mike (if he's ok with that). B) Bum a ride with one of you. C) Just tough it out and go in my car and not do any of the events.

Also, just a reminder, registrations should be in to Don by June 30!! This means get on the stick if you already haven't (myself included).

Just drive your car. Its not as hot up there as it is down here. Drive at night if you like.

I also dont like the idea of you going with another man!!!! !!!!

JK!!

1 question....I have to sleep on the floor??? GOSH!!! I thought when we get married there I can at least sleep in the same bed as you.

Forget bumming rides and missing the driving events. Rent a car drive to Indy and then use the rental at the events (you don't really have to drive it to death) then drive home. Cheaper than flying. The trick is to rent and return at an airport (unlimited mileage) and make sure your current auto insurance policy covers you in a rental (most policies will). This way you can decline the rental company insurance (expensive) and still be covered (make sure your policy has comp & collision and not just liability) Check the deals on Orbitz, Priceline etc for the best deals and models. You should be able to rent a Ford Five Hundred for about $159 for a week. Lots of options on models and FL is the rental car capital and summer is off season rates.

I don't know about being cheaper then flying....Jacksonville has some killer prices on flying, even cheaper then Orlando. Check out expedia.com. I usually average $160 from JAX to Buffalo.
