I had slicers on my car most of the summer, with Kumho 732 Touring Plus tires (brand new) on them. I noticed that when I first put them on the car would squeel quite a bit if you floored it off the line, but after awhile they no longer did (about 5,000 miles). I just put the stock wheels back on with brand new BF Goodrich tires, they don't squeel at all (never have with stock wheels) - but I was surprised, for some reason the car seemed to really get up alot faster. I never noticed if the 16x6's were spinning at all and they seemed to grip the road fine, but the stock 16x6.5' wheels seem to stick like glue and the car seems to get to 70 a lot faster now.

I also noticed that the BF Goodrich (which are twice the price of the Kumho's) are a lot louder than the Kumhos, I would assume this is because they are a bigger tire and have more rubber touching the ground than the Kumhos. The ride is also a lot rougher, bumps are far more noticeable and the car seems to move up and down with the surface of the road.

Could it be the quality of the tires that make the difference in performance or is it the size of the tire that could be causing this difference - or a little of both?

kinda funny, i think the slicers are a LOT lighter than the stock wheels, but I could just be imagining!

i was refering to tires. Tire weight varies from company to company.
Im not too sure what slicers weigh, but i know they arent light. but IIRC, they are in the area of 42lbs (with tire/depending on tire)

EDIT: what sized tires are you running? Where the tires on both the same size?

The 99 wheels are lighter than the 96-98 wheels by about half a pound. I dunno how much slicers weigh. Thought I'd let ya know.

Its a combination of several factors. Speed rating, tire size, tread width, section width, tread pattern, wheel width, tire weight. Since you changed so many variables it isn't surprising to have a noticeable difference between the different tires/wheels.

yeah, i figured the difference in price on the tires meant more than how long they were going to last. However, the Kumho's stick to the road pretty darn well in rain!

The directional slicers weigh 18 lbs.

Word. I think the '99 wheels were 19 and the chromies are just under 20? I can't remember where I read that.

My wheels are 17 and tires were 23.. They break loose from a stop, or coming out or a 20-30mph curve in 1st. These tires don't make alot of noise when they loose traction.. more of a humming sound.. sometimes I hear it on the 1-2
