The side mirrors on my 94 are badly sun beaten. I want to take them off and re-paint them. The problem is I dont know how to get them off.

Would just some automotive duplicolor paint work?

You can unbolt them from the inside of the door. Bolts are hidden by a small plastic piece held on with one screw near the top of the door panel. Also unplug the connection for the power mirror.

It's there. It's actually inside the shell of the door. Sometimes there is a clear sticker covering the hole. You can see it a little better if you remove the top of the door panel, but you dont really have to.

Actually you have to remove the door panel to unhook the connector.

Is it just really bad oxidation?
If so, you could use a prduct called Klasse AIO to remove the oxidation instead of repainting them. Just a thought.....
Go here: www.autopia.org if your intereted. You'll find lots of good, useful info. :thumb:

I dont think its oxidation. But it looks really ********, one is really bad, the other is still kinda black, but has a huge circle of discoloration.

If its behind the sticker thing, then thats why I didnt see it.

Good thing Goose said something about oxidation.

Heres my COST/TIME effective method of getting rid of that oxidation on the mirrors:

What youll need:
1. SOS pad(I guess a brillo pad would work also?)
2. Water

Thats it..

Step 1. Wet the SOS pad, and scrub the side mirror.
Step 2. Wash soap from SOS pad off the side mirror.
Step 3. Enjoy! :thumb:

Next mission is to find a time efficent way of getting those headlights clear... Off to the drawing board.

EDIT: This method will not work on the headlights.
