Should I get her check out or not?

After my experience last night I have much more respect for my car. I hit a spot where water was over the road. I didn't see it because it was so damn dark out. We were hydroplaning all over the road, from side to side, completely sideways and saw both ditches much too well for my liking. Although it only was a few seconds, it seemed like an eternity. We managed to stay on the road, and she handled like a dream and was very responsive during the whole thing. Guess she didn't want to go in the ditch just as much as I. Scared the **** out of me though. All I could say the rest of the ride home was "Holy Shit!".

Question is, should I get the suspension or other things checked out? I didn't hit anything and she seems to drive just fine today but with as much force as the tie rods and other suspension parts had to be under during that I wonder if it could have stressed something too much. Is it possible to hurt something under there when something like last night happens?

Sounds like a typical autocross workout! Glad you're ok. If you notice anything out of the ordinary over the next couple of days, perhaps take a look. Otherwise, I'd probably let it go. If you went off-road a bit & it was a bumpy transition, I'd check for leaking struts.

Same thing happened to me a while back. Did a 360 while trying to avoid a 5 dear in the middle of the road in the rain. The car was fine afterwards. Wish I could say the same for my underware

I'm keeping an eye on her for sure. I need new front struts anyhow, but want to wait until after Christmas for them.

I didn't go off road at all thank God, not much off that road except ditch. And if that's what autocross is like I can handle it...just not at night. I'm still having flashbacks.

Thanks for the input guys...eases my mind a bit to get your opinions.

MeShoHorney--at least you're not the only one who needed a new pair!

Well, no problems have come up that I know of related to Friday night, but there are some other issues I need to cover. Those will be posted in a separate post. More people tend to read newer topics and I need all the help I can get with this one.
