Well I just got an auction sho. Engine seems to run fine but the power steering seems loose and the tranny is leaking bad. LIke i added 2 quarts of oil and it ran out the bottom somewhere bad. Does anyone know how much a rebuild is going to cost? Also Id rather have a mtx tranny how hard is a swap?
I read some post here about it but not enough info and they were old threads. And lastly if its going to cost alot what do u guys think about adding a t5 to the shomo and stuffing it into a 79 dodge colt rwd or a newer ranger? I dont got a lot of cash so any help is welcome
Im in the sacramento area.

THx all,

We sell these units for $2200. There is a core charge and shipping both ways, but you get a great tranny with a converter and shift kit installed. It'll give you classy shifts that are quick and tight. Easy on the throttle and it shifts nice, heavy on the throttle and it'll set you in the seat. These units come with a warranty too.

Yeah, I know it's a bunch of money, but we have been very successful with these units. They work, work right and last a long time.

Drop us a line if you're interested.

WHY A COLT?

There are tons of threads around about the ATX to MTX swap. Basically, unless you LIKE doing the labor yourself, it's CHEAPER to find a running mtx. Because you basically have to tear the front end of an MTX out to swap into yours.

You have to replace the subframe, tranny, pedals, etc... etc...

The Ranger idea seems sweet, but again, a lot of work. You'd have a sweet sounding truck, with an excuse to open the hood a lot. And I have to wonder how that tranny would boost 1/4 mile times! :thumb:

As for the colt- again, WHY?? :bonk:

Well it was aviliable to me cheap under 300. And it was rear wheel super light weight. Talk about a sleeper. Its a SHO Colt. Better than most stangs :dribble: better than most taurus shos i would guess. Its a 79 so no computer problems just transfer the elec.'s from the sho taurus. Frankenstien transplant. :thumb:

Yo sho Dude

I wondering how hard is it to rebuild the tranny? Is there any machine work involved? Do u guys sell rebuild kits all the parts? I know auto tranny's are complacated but if i worked slow no rush could it be done. I grew up workin on old trucks. I've torn down engines and rebuilt them but never a tranny. If there was a full break down of the process in print with a few pics i dont think i would have any problems. Are there any special tools involved?
Well thx for your time.
