My 89 keeps setting a code 19. Seems to be related to the engine moving back and forth, but not sure. The cam sensor is new, and sending signal, dis module checks out and even a different computer, with the same factory cal. The shop also checked all the wiring, and it checks out too. They are puzzeled as am I. Check engine light comes on after about 3-5 minutes of driving. Seems to be prone to coming on when the engine rocks or moves during a shift. Does anyone have any ideas or help on this?
Thanks!
Tom

so I took the car to an auto electric place the shop I go to recommends. They say they don't get code 19 cid circuit, but codes for front bank lean and a code for the a/c clutch......yet the whole time I have been trying to sort out this mess, nothing but code 19's come up. Any ideas folks, please?

Check to see if your DIS is cracked or the connectors are cracked. If the engine moved excessively (motor mounts broke perhaps), the DIS wiring will become very stressed and may crack the DIS and/or connectors. Remove the DIS and inspect it very closely. Try to flex it; if it does, it's broke. The metal backing plate should keep it from flexing at all.

There are THREE different possible interpretations of a code "19". It all depends on WHEN the fault code is issued.

Is it a continuous memory (CM), KOEO, or KOER code?

Is there an after-market "chip" installed on the PCM? If so, remove it.

The computer as far as I know does not have a chip. I got a computer out of a 89 in the junkyard, same B9C cal, and the same issue happens with it also. When they check the codes it comes up in both tests, as for continuous memorey I am not sure. They can clear it, drive it and it comes right back. They checked out the DIS module, even put another one in to test, same problem. The checked all the wiring and I am told that it is fine, no shorts or bad grounds. The cam sensor is new borg warner unit and is sending a signal.

I have noticed that the engine will move slightly side to side, not front to back if you turn the steering wheel during the KOER test. And that the rear subrame bushing on the passenger side is worn a little, but it doesn't seem to move so far that any thing is stretched.

What is odd, is the shop I go to the owners are experienced ford techs, one even owned a 92 sho. He said this code should enable limp in mode and default to base timing and such, but it's not, it runs too well with this fault. They seem totally perplexed as do I.

Yes, and i ahve talked to Russ and John

Just making sure. They are both great mechanics who know the SHO. They have been working mine and my fathers SHO's for the last 10 years, I'm suprised they can't figure this one out. Good luck regardless. Also, I remember my dad mentioned somthing to me about seeing a Green Gen 2 around town somewhere. He drives a Silver 95 ATX and is in Lancaster.

So, the auto electric shop that I was refered to by Expert still can not find anything wrong with the car, and are stummped as to why it is setting the code 19. I'm getting really frustrated about this, but the car still drives fine with the light on.
I'd really like to get this bug fixed. All wiring, dis module, cam sensor, computer all check out.

So I am hoping maybe someone here can help...today the car started to run ruff at idle, and I noticed If I stepped on the gas at idle it sounds as if it is dropping a cylinder or two...it sounds like it is chugging (best way to describe it) and it feels much weaker than normal. The engine idle also seemed to go up and down a couple hundred rpm, and occasionally it would idle high. Anyone?
