Yeah, this thread was TJ'ed

Yeah, this was supposed to be about shocks, but since no one makes them to anyone's knowledge, braking just sort of threadjacked.

I would love it if Tokico had an offering for the SHO. Tokico didn't like Eibach or H&R lowering springs that much as I did have two of them go out within 40,000 miles, but those who installed the shocks without lowering them didn't seem to have any problems.

I think that brakes will go a long way to solving the "all suspension" issues that I have with this car. I swear whoever designed the interior and engine/tranny was a good team. But the people who designed the suspension and braking system need to be dealt with in an entirely different, non-politically correct way.

Trying to revive the thread

OK, so I got to thinking about the 2008 Taurus AWD car and how our car uses the exact same platform. I then did a little research and found out that KYB makes aftermarket shocks for the 2008 AWD Taurus. I just don't know if I'd call them "performance" but it is their GR-2 line of shocks. I don't have much experience with KYB and was wondering if anyone did. Would these really give me any better handling than stock?

The other question I have is with fitment. Does anyone know if the 2008 and 2010 Taurus share the same shock?

The KYB part numbers are 334652 and 334653 for the right and left side fronts, and 341462 for the rear.

I have installed KYB's before, and its been my experience that they offer a much stiffer ride.As far fitment from 2008 to 2010 looking part numbers on rockauto.com there are some same part numbers for both years. But it appears KYB only has a replacement for rears.

Well, in the catalog it says that 334652 and 3 are available second quarter 2011 (which is now) but you're right, I can only find the rears to buy ATM. Theoretically these should bolt up. Does anyone have any experience working on a Five Hundred - 2009 Taurus?

KYB GR2s do not have a good reputation.

This is a necro bump I'm sure, but just in case someone is doing searches like I am and comes across this thread...check twice, order once.
