What does a gen 3 weigh, and how much difference in weight is there between a gen 2 and a gen 3?

There's a big variance in the weights. Mine weighed 3510 with a quarter tank of gas. Some '99s weigh in at about 3400 lbs. Some other cars weight 3600+.

I don't know if that's much heavier than a Gen2 ATX car.

Does anyone know if there was a difference in the weight from 96 to 99, and what was done to the 99's to decrease weight?

Thanks.

There seems, from what I have read, to be a good deal of variance for each year, and even within a year, depending on your options. The '98 came with most everything included, that is, no serious options, so they tend to be closest in weight to each other. I did mine on a truck scale once, and it came out to someplace in the mid 3400s. I forget exactly, though it is written down around here somewhere. 3465 or 3458 or something like that, or maybe 3485. I will have to go looking around for it. That was nothing in it but about a quarter indicated tank of gas, which is probably less then a fifth of an actual tank, considering the gauge is far from linear, say about 15 liters or so.

For some sort of reference I got my old red 92 SHO (MTX obviously) weighed at the 03 convention. It had a full tank of gas and assorted items in it from traveling. Weighed in at 3600lbs even.
