Figured some of you guys would enjoy this...more than the Camaro SS owner at least. This was me last Friday at Cayuga Dragway in Ontario. Still a long way to go in my tuning/driving but 13.30's were good enough to have the Hemi and Camaro guys asking what the story was. Too funny to listen to all the questions. Sorry about the fuzzy focus.

Cool stuff Roush and congrats........

On the first vid it looked like you were braking b4 the finish -- couldn't tell for sure.

That track is about an hour from me (I'm in Cambridge) -- keep promising myself to go back there sometime.

Nice runs. Now you just need to invest in a new camcorder that can zoom and focus on the board.

Hey Roush, nice runs! Thanks for posting... I hope my PM on the tips were helpful to help you reach your low 13's, I haven't heard back from you...
Please post your official best time and trap speed under the section «At the drags»/Top ten quickest (the most recent one, not the one on the top top)...
Thanks!
BTW, your 13.30 is a good time, but 13.9 for a Camaro SS??? Needs a driver change! There was one on the night I ran 12.98 and he ran 13.11... With a good driver on good night they are supposed to run high 12's... So I am sure that as much as us, SHO owners, are happy to see your youtube clip, there will be a few comments of Camaro owners saying it was not an SS or other comments to defend their cars! lol

My Son and I go every few weeks. He runs an 11 second street Mustang. I'll PM you next time we go on a Friday night for test and tune.

Here is a run my Son made a few weeks ago.

Your son has one hot 'Stang there.:woo-hoo:

You close to Cambridge?

I've never seen a Camaro (stock) run quicker than mid to high 13s. I've been beating up on those since day 1

Just one question, were you guys bracket racing or did you "leave" at the same time? If that's the case, you put a heck of a holeshot on the Camaro.

This was a heads up Test and Tune session. No handicaps.

STEVE,

These passes were before your PM. I am hoping your tips will knock of a 10th or two. I had the Stage 3/93 in and will try Stage 4 next time.

My car will be in a trade show booths on August 13th for SCT and Airaid in Toronto.

I guess it depends on the temperature etc. I tend to go on nights when it is not too hot, so the cars usually run faster... I have been witnessing 2 Camaro SS one at 13.1 and another one at 12.9 both stock... they are a bit slower than the new GT's 5.0, stock they run around 12.8-12.9.
If you google Camaro SS quarter mile, you will see that they say the average time and speed is about 13.0-13.1 at around 110-111mph...
Still, for all the power, not too impressive numbers...
Have a good night all!

Yep on the heat.....

Tim Pavlik, this year's "King of the Hill" at the SHO Convention drags, had run 12.9Xs with his stock GXP last year (I saw the slips). In the 100+ temps at Rockingham, he was dialed at about a 14.05 or so. Steve Bates, who rented a Camaro SS with an auto, was running in the same 14.0-14.10 range, IIRC.

OTOH, Jim Pappas, with his CTS-V 6-speed, was running 12.70s. Lost his match to the track owner, who had the same car except with an auto, 12.66 to Jim's 12.72, and the guy treed him big time. I believe the owner's quote was "Don't shoot pool against the guy who owns the table"!!

What do you mean for all the power? The Camaro only has 430hp but is also burdened at 3900lbs. 13.0-13.1 is exactly where it should be with that power/weight/rwd. And a 12.9 stock SS are a bit slower than the new GTs at 12.8-12.9? A fail to see the bit slower part.

As for me, whenever I see an AWD car at the strip, I figure that will account for a large advantage when I'm only launching with 2 wheels and street tires...

One of these days I'll go to a strip that's somewhere between 45 and 100 degrees...

I mean that for a sport car with 430 hp, they should have tried to lower the weight so that it could defend itself better with all that power. The Z06 of 2003 had 405hp and runs the 1/4 mile in 12.4 sec. The 2005-2009 Mustang GT's stock at 300hp run 13.5-13.6, so I would have expected to Camaro SS to be a bit faster, that's all. That said, I am happy that with our car and just a tune, we can beat them!

Yeah, it seems like GM is making very solid cars that are, unfortunately, porkers. I'm a GM man but I'd take a Boss 302 in a second over an SS(even though I think the Camaro is much better looking) because it's well sorted out and my heart is still with the original SHO as DOHC revvers still have a place in my heart.

My '04 CTS-V was heavy but well sorted. My '09 V is an excellent handler but 4200lbs is impossible to mask on tight courses and back roads.

The auto cars have a ton of torque managament, so the manual cars are much quicker in stock form (with an ok driver). Our 2010 Camaro SS auto ran 13.99 @ 101.57 in stock form and 13.08 @ 106.65 with a CAI and our tune. I drove the car and did back to back tests. I was amazed it wouldn't go any quicker in stock form.
