Ok, so the brochure for the 2013 lists the EAPS as a standard feature so it seems only the 2010 (not sure about 2011-2012) came with both systems.

Not sure what drift control is but that would be the only difference:

It seems that some of the early NON SHO Taurus' were hydraulic power steering. When they changed, I do not know.

I think drift control is the feature where if your driving on a crown, the epas will learn this and apply a small amount of effort on the steering so you dont have too. Similar if there is a prevailing wind. It's called something else and I cannot remember.

It looks like 2013 was the 1st year of strictly Electronic Power ASsist. Before that there were hydraulic and epas systems. Not sure how the distinguish between what has what, but it seems from the owner's manual that the SHO had the epas uniuts.

sorry I'm not familiar with Forscan, what is that?
Thanks

It's an aftermarket scan tool that allows you to change the as_built programming in a module.

A way to change the software in the module on a very high level explaination.

So is the thought that my 2016 non pp SHO feels like it’s fighting me due to the drift control?

If you notice it more when you cross the crown of a road for a short time, then it may be. If your driving on a flat road for a few miles and let go of the wheel it should track strait. The drift/pull control feature of the EPAS should be very unnoticeable. My 2016, when aligned well needs very minimal input to the wheel to keep the car tracking strait.

Does your car have lane keeping lane departure? Is there an image of the car in the IPC an what look like lane markings that change color from grey, green, to red? And does the pull only occur during a lane change and go away when you use the turn signal? You may be fighting the lane keeping/lane departure system?

Yeah it kind of sounds like you're describing the lane keeping assist. Try turning it off , the button is on the compartment in front of the shifter with the little car drifting off lane

yeah, I agree with that. My first drive where I forgot to turn of lanekeeping was like " what … the … **** is wrong with this car????"

"Oh, lanekeeping."

It's nice for long drives on the highway where you're just tooling along with adaptive cruise, but sucks for everything else.

Now that the ridiculously drawn out " did standard Taurus have this" argument is over, I noticed our steering system does not like staggered wheels. I have a perf pack and it would always try to wander with the ruts in the road. Worse though, the car would wiggle because the wider wheels in the back would be in a different spot on ruts than the front. I do know that with large diameter wheels you feel the road more.

I do have lane keep assist, but that's not what I talking about. The wheel definitely fights me ever so slightly. I presume it is a SHO calibration to give us the illusion of road feel.
