Here in middle Tennessee we dont get much snow. I decided at 2am tonight to embark on a quiet trip through my busy town of 1500 people after an inch of snow had accumulated on my porch. I soon encountered what I assumed to be children doing donuts and all sorts of things in the few parking lots and streets we have in their late 90s 3500 ram dually 4x. I'm not sure how many of you have gotten the opportunity to drive your car really hard in the snow, but I was extremely impressed with the AWD system when my game of donuts turned into a game of keep-up around the grocery store. I essentially turned the parking lot and surrounding street into an impromptu rallycross track. Granted, there was barely an inch of mushy snow on the asphalt, the car was a perfect balance of traction and slip whenever I needed to call upon either one. Running v rates cooper tires btw. Anyway, that's everything I have to say about everything I said. :sleep:20190120 013818

I love the SHO for it's snow traction - just need a good set of tires. I put Goodyear cop-car snow tires on my '16 with 18" rims, and it was awesome. Now that I've switched to a 2018, I still have that set of snow tires, so they'll be going on soon.

I was very impressed with the weight balance of the SHO.

At 11 degrees yesterday, those Pirelli P Zeros were slippery as ****... Once they're worn out, I just might go back to Goodyear F1's - they were pretty soft even at low temperatures.

Look the at Conti DWS 06 Extreme Contact. The new revision is amazing. I love them.

The Conti's got such a bad rap over at ford-trucks.com that I hesitate to even consider them no matter what they've done since, but I'll take it under advisement ;)

I have a set of snow tires for the winter anyway...

You chimed in on my Conti tire thread. The new ones are great. I am glad they fixed them. For my driving, pretty sure the DSW06 will be the only tires on my SHO.

I put a set of Kumho PA51's on about 1000 miles ago. Got back yesterday from a week long trip down to Beech Mountain NC, where there was plenty of snow. I drove through fresh snow, packed snow, and slushy messy snow on the ride home. Not once did I feel out of control. I wasn't flying around and really trying to push the limits of the tires but for normal everyday driving in the snow, the PA51's were great. I wouldn't pass up an all out winter tire if I lived in a location where those were necessary. For a cheaper all season, I'd definitely buy them again.

I went out after getting a couple inches of fresh snow with the same idea in mind. Unfortunately in my 2010 even when traction control was turned off it would kick in mid slide and **** power. Almost put me into a couple curbs. Anybody else have this happen? I’m sure pulling the fuse would fix it but it didn’t seem worth it with single digit temps lol

Yes. Happens for me too because like you, I can't **** advance-trac on my MKS. There was a guy who posted on the FB forum that he figured out how to wire up a switch to turn it off for non-PP models. Pulling a fuse won't work, sadly. I've heard people comment that you need to unplug the speed sensors on the wheels to get the full off mode.

There was someone that used Forscan to turn on the PP features that allowed you to hold the traction control button down for 5 seconds (stopped, with your foot on the brake) and it would do the FULL turn off. On a non-PP model.

Would like to do that if you can find where the info came from...
