I can't believe you guy's run your engines on 3 quarts. Shame on you.![]()
The light comes on at 2 qts. With the old 3.0 and every seal leaking, I could barely add enough to keep that light off.

NO owners operation manual will ever give capacities that include removing the oil pan and oil pump etc etc. You simply cant drain all the oil out of the motor. However you go and remove the pan and pump and start cleaning these items till they are dry you can significanlty change the amount of oil your gonna have to replace. These numbers aren't gonna be 100% exact. It will hoever fill it within the add and full range that way you don't under/over fill it and drive off and toast the motor.
They don't make operators manuals or idiot lights for the mechanically inclined.
Not referring to the Owner's Manual. The dry fill spec is in a Ford Service and Parts Technical Training publication, used in conjunction with Service Technician Specialty Training. Titled Engine Operations, 1989. Posted here: http://jonheese.com/SHO_Engine_Book.pdf
Thats a nice link you posted but I don't see any where that it refers to them as DRY capacities and seeing that it is the same as whats in the Owners operation manual I have to think that its the same as what I have refered to in my previous post.
