Hello all,

Just took delivery of a 2012 gray SHO 401a with sport package - Pretty psyched! Good friend of mine got me x plan and hooked me up with the owner of the local dealer so I was able to skate with this amazing car for little over $500/mo (even with plate, delivery, insurance, etc factored). Kind of blows my mind for what you get.. I was considering a '11 328ix wagon which was about the same base price but all the same the monthly ended up way north of $600. Nice but not that nice... barely better mileage and not even close to this baby performance/comfort wise.

I'm coming from a long stretch (8 years) with an Audi A4 Quattro 2.8 Sedan (purchased used 2 years old). In total car nerd fashion I did a life cycle cost on it and all said and done spread out over 98 months it ended up running a solid $360 a month. We'll see how this monster averages out over the long haul. =)

Suppose Ford is all :woo-hoo: knowing they've converted another ***** driver. Looking forward to absorbing the cars' nuances from y'all. Cheers!

EDIT: I'm trying to post responses but they are not showing up?? =(

4 all the pic requests, here she is sitting out front... ;)

500$ a month for a new 2012!!! Wow! that is a steal! I am paying 706$ per month for 72 months for a used one (includes a penalty of 4K$ for my previous Fusion not finished to pay, but still!).
Welcome aboard and let's see how long you can resist before putting a tune in it!!!
lol!

Thanks!

I'm suddenly feeling a little foolish though.. was so excited about the deal and wanted the sport suspension but I missed one crucial detail; the Goodyear F1 summer tires. *doh* Winter wheel set or pricy 20" all seasons here I come..

Anyone interested in a set of F1s?? :nut:

Welcome aboard! Hope you enjoy the new car. @ Steve, you know you can have an even lower payment if you stow a bit of money away and make a larger down payment when you purchase your next car...I've owned many new cars, and it's really great when your payment is really low or even better when there is none to make....it usually means waiting to purchase, but in the long run, it is worth the wait.

Welcome, MiSHO , and congrats on the new ride. Post up pics of your new beauty.

Agreed on paying more down even if it means waiting longer. Big payments would get onerous real quick.

Enjoy the new SHO, MiSHO.....and yes, get a tune.

+1 on the payment I purchased my 2010 SHO used, but I had $8500 in equity on my trade-in and put down an additional $3000 cash to keep my payment below $500 per month for 4 yrs.

Actually, it depends on 2 things :
1 ) The interest rates... When I see people making a big down payment on a car and the interest rate is 0%, they don't know nothing about finance;
2 ) it also depends on how bad you want the car... in my case, I can never wait...

CASH.... IS... KING!

At my age... If I can't pay cash... I don't buy... of course this works to the advantage of the BANK... this way... they don't have to deal with my Wife or kids....LOL..

Wait... It's them laughing...... NOT ME...

I kinda agree with you on the interest rate, but Steve the thought of a 700 to 800 dollar a month car payment really scares me. But like Bob, as I've gotten older, my views have changed. Plus being retired and living on a fixed income changes things a bit. Still if I were financing a car I would feel more comfortable with a lower payment, besides some saving investments aren't great right now, and I know when I bought my SHO the interest rates were not attractive at all and I was NOT going to do a $900 a month payment just to get 0% financing for 36 months, and other then 0 for 36 there was no low rate available.

Hey thanks for the welcome guys!

If your are curious about the math... I got a ridiculous deal doing a short term lease. =) Here's how it busts down:

$3500 down
$1000 tax,title,plate,etc, etc
$8640 ($320 monthly @ 27mo 10k per annual - I don't commute ;)
$1350 ($50 insurance @ 27mo)
--------
$14490 or $536 spread out over the 27mo (oops, my bad so it ends up a little over $500 =)

Unless my business completely tanks on me (knock on wood), I should be able to buy it out at the end of the term with cash (of course I'm always saving/investing along the way) or just take out a very short term low interest loan. Worse case, I've got enough excess in bank to pay the $15k owed today & I'll walk away from it when it's up.

That's my crazy logic and sure I could have put 12k-13k down on a 60 month loan and landed in the same zone but when you consider I can keep my capitol working in the mean time and keep saving.. :nut:

Of course... now I'm looking for a set of winter wheels/tires which will no doubt bump the costs up a bit LOL oh well. That's the fun of carz.

I agree I look at the purchase of an automobile as an expense and in my budget car payments are $500 or less per month.

I must have got a pretty good deal on our 2010. 0% for 36mo was all they offered so we took it. With very little down we only ended up at a bit over $700/mo. It's over half paid off already!

Congrats to the OP and enjoy!
