SHO Mechanic Needed

Anybody know of a SHO mechanic in the Irvine, CA, area (92610 zip) or Southern California - Orange County?

I need bearing work and really can't drive it so I'll have to tow it to his location or somewhere to have it worked on.

I am here for a short while and have done rod bearing work a couple times. It is really very simple.

There is enough guys down here that you can get taken care of. Matt (LoudSHO92) has a bit more connections that I do.

If you are speaking of rod bearings you probably won't find any 'mechanic' willing to deal with it. It is something that you can get other enthusiats to help you with, or do it yourself. But, a mechanic won't touch that.

Thanks for the help. I believe you are quite right - no one wants to touch the beast.

And I haven't had the Ford place touch the engine for a long time - but they have done my clutch jobs.

Many have stated that it is not a difficult job, but the problem for me is I don't have a place to do it.

I've tackled the "light stuff" - 60K, motor mounts, starter, brakes, etc.

But I would like to learn how to tackle the more difficult engine items - water pump, oil pump, clutch, tranny drop and rebuild ... and struts.

I have to learn sooner or later and it might as well be sooner!!

I just dropped my tranny, with a 2 post lift it was super easy, really didn't have anything bad happen. Probably could have gotten it out and flywheel machined and clutch together in 2 days, then back together in 2 more. If you can raise a vehicle above eye level somehow you can definitely drop the transmission. Also, struts are easy, just be careful with the spring compressor!!!
