Hello ridered74.,
It has been some time since I owned a Fuel injected auto that I was interested in hop-up.
So things like...
BOV= blow off valve.
ICM= idle control motor
MAF= mass air flow
There are many like this that I have no idea what they mean...
Any help with the modern lingo would be helpful...

I'm no mechanic, but I am a black belt in google fu. Fuel injected cars use a mass air flow sensor to measure how much air is getting in, that reading helps the ECU determine how much fuel to pump thru the injectors. A blow off valve is there to release pressurized air into the atmosphere instead of into the compressor when throttle is lifted. That helps cut down on wear to the compressor. Idle control motor is there to keep the engine idling at a steady rpm when things such as the air conditioner is turned on.

Someone else might be able to better explain them, but that's the basic jist of it. Google and Wikipedia both can explain it in much greater detail.

PCM = Powertrain Control Module (It's the computer that controls your car...also known as ECU or Electronic Control Unit) It's what gets programmed when you get a tune.

TBS - you got me on this one. TPS is usually a throttle position sensor - TBS could be throttle body sensor? Not sure.

MAP Sensor - Manifold Absolute Pressure - Measures the amount of air pressure in the manifold (or wherever it is positioned) and is used to adjust the Air/Fuel ratio going in to the car. Similar purpose as to a MAF sensor but doesn't measure airflow...just pressure.

PCM Programming - See above

KAM (From Google) KAM stands for Keep Alive Memory and it's a form of adaptive memory. KAM memory works as follows, whenever you drive your vehicle, the car's E C M or engine control module learns each sensor imperfection, and records it on a special memory.

Livernois Kit - I'm assuming refers to the tuning package from Livernois which can consist of a lot of combinations but primarily means the tune, thermostat, 3 bar MAP sensor, and possibly an intake along with plugs gapped appropriately.

HTH Hope that helps...

TBS? Are you sure you do not mean TSB? Technical Service Bulletin - A message published by car companies alerting their technicians of a possible issue and how to solve it.

This is the ONLY one that anyone needs to commit to memory!
