Some really great info here!

Does the carrier gasket usually leak? Like someone mentioned earlier i wonder if you get that far in if you should then just change the pan gaskets also.

Also what stock clutch and flywheel is everyone going with now?

The carrier gasket is a flat gasket and does not usually leak. There is no better time to reseal the oil pan than when the transmission is out of the way, and it's a natural to replace the pan end gaskets, carrier gasket, and rear main seal all at the same time. That said, unless I had an obvious pan leak that required attention, I would not do all of that at every clutch change. The rear main seal can be replaced by itself. So, it depends on the circumstances.

Every time I get ready to do the job something comes up. But its about time to get started. I want to make sure everythings set. I have the clutch which came with everything just no flywheel. So it should cost about $60 to resurface. I bought the rear main seal to replace. Bought 1/2 ratchet with deep sockets. Universal sockets. Prybar. Engine support bar. Other varioua items. I think Im ready to go.
If yall know of someone selling interior for an SHO, let me know. Ill do a new thread to try and buy some interior.

I have an old VHS video from SHO Nut Performance on clutch replacement in a SHO if you want me to send it to you.

Hey. Ive got a question. On the video, it's telling me I need an m8 by 1.25 bolt for the support bar. I cant figure out where to put it. I'm looking under my car to see if I spot the hole that the video is showing but I cant find it.

Behind the rear cylinder head on the left side. The chain can come around the back or around the end of the cylinder head. Cushion it from the valve cover with rags. The chain does not show in this photo, but you can see the bolt location where those big flat washers are.

This shows how the support can be rigged to the engine. I recommend adding extra chains or straps for reducdancy so there is no way the engine can fall even if one lift point gives way.

I never did that job without already having the motor out of the car so I don't have experience with supports like above. However, It's just like using a hoist where you can attach to several bolt locations (heads or block) as long as the area can support the weight.

Ahhh ok. Just wanted to make sure so I dont break something.
