Hey, i messed up my hood pretty bad on my 89 SHO because i was goin about 110MPH and it flew up. Is there any difference in the regular taurus hoods and SHO hoods? People are telling me that there is a big difference...the only thing i see that is different is the SHO deal under the hood.

the structural webbing under the hood of the standard taurus and sable are a bit different than that of the SHO.

The SHO hood has provisions for the front surge tank.

You can use a standard taurus or sable hood, but it must be modified.

You can use a regular taurus hood no problem. My 89 had a very similar problem, I was on the highway going 75 and a gust of wind came and broke the rusted front hood lock and the hood flew open cracking my windshield and destroying the moonroof. I went to the junkyard and got a regular taurus hood, and it mounted and fit fine. I didnt have the underhood pad on it though. The only thing i modified on the regular taurus hood was the mounting brackets for the hood struts, one of them needs to bent up so it doesnt hit the yamahammer.

Like Nick said, a SLO hood does technically "fit", but the passenger side hood strut needs some lovin'. In my case, the lovin' was delivered by me removing the strut, and bending that strut bracket up and away from my DIS. The previous owner had a SHOT front mount, with this hood... the DIS has a decent sized chunk missing from the plastic housing.

On a side note, I'm getting a plus hood soon :p

Good luck with the hood! burnout
