ok a buddy of mine has a 97 sho

he keeps losing coolant.the car over heats on long drives, can idle in drive way for 20-30min and not over heat.. he dont see any coolant leaks..

he has changed the water pump, why im not sure. he also thinks it has a bad head gasket. which i told him that is uncommon on these cars but anything is possible..

i think i might have a leak at the T near the lower intake or something.. i havnt seen the car yet so this is just what i was told over the phone..

thanks for any help!

Is there a bunch of smoke coming out the exhaust? A broken T or old hose could do it. Also a leaky radiator especially at the endtanks is not uncommon. I had a few hoses and T's go bad. Have extra T's on hand if you start disconnecting the hoses. They are likely very brittle and tend to break when you try and pull the hoses off.

There's a short 2" (i think?) coolant hose that is only about 2 inches long that runs underneath the throttle body. Mine had a small pin ***** in it last summer and it took me forever to locate where my coolant was going.

It very well could be that the expansion coolant tank warped, or the cap warped. Same situation happened to me. It's pretty easy to replace.
