alright... ... so i'm driving home, i thought i'd mess around with my wife..there's like a 1.5 mile stretch of absol. flat straight road coming out of town..so i'm in 3rd,i drop it in second to pass her floor it the car feel alright,..and up around 4500, nothing...the car wouldnt go past 58mph in second...i counted 5 second for it to go from 5k to 6k rpms:oogle: ...needless to say my wife in her 99 taurus duratec walked me by a good three or four car lengths:snicker: ...its worse in third or fourth,it wont go past 5500...now at idle if you blip the throttle you can see the butterfly accuators moving,so i'm assuming there working right, the gas pedal feels like it has alot of resistance when your pushing on it..but the linkage feels loose on the tb? is it common for the cats to plug on these cars? should i start with the plugs and wires? any ideas or common problems?

Clogged cats?
Dirty as **** fuel filter?
Bad maf?

Pull codes yet? If you post your codes here someone will be able to tell you where a good starting place is.

still no luck....i unplugged the maf today and it seemed to pull a little better up top, made it to 6k or so,but with more bucking than with it plugged in...so i cleaned the maf and it ran about the same as it unplugged(which is a improvement)...the only code i got was for the maf(it had just been ran unplugged)...i still cant figure out the car the intake is loud and it sounds like the cars moving fast, till you look down at the speedo and its barely getting out of its own way. the mis/hesitation is wierd..if you give it wot from a standstill it seems to have plenty of power,it pulls the wheel and it loses traction..but once it gets to 4k-4500 it hits a wall and starts to mis/buck than smooths out than bucks again..???? i really need some advice...could it be timing related? i've had the car for all of 15 miles so i dont know its service history
...i want to dohave the 60k done, but nesho responded to one of my four emails..only asking were i'm located

Swap the MAF out with a known good one. See if that helps.

I'd check the cats for the death rattle. If a cat is dead, a high-flow cat welded in the system should run you no more than $200 at a good exhaust shop.
