I agree they're different class of cars, but I figured I would ask and see if it was possible
to do it and keep the daily driver status of the SHO.

Now the question:
Is it possible to make an SHO ATX handle as well if not better than 3 series Beemer?

Honestly its a dead issue. The suspension is far superior to the point its not even fair.

Even comparing it to my own personal car, which is basically the same front suspension design- Its still alot faster (rear trailing arm design vs. multi-link 92+ 3 series)
It doesent matter how tuned in your suspension is. You still cant use as much tire as you'd like to put under it.
(ex. SLA fox body vs. non- thats basically e36 rear susp. design)

But at the end of the day it doesent matter. if you can even somewhat make up for it with driving skills, it can be alot of fun!

Putting FWD vs. RWD aside which I think is almost always advantage RWD - I'm confident my GL with the new shosource coilovers will handle better than any ford engineer in the early 1990's would ever dream of - with the new coilovers, adj. rear control arms, h-brace, long subframe connectors, custom X-member, all TPR etc.... I really will have little if any additional mods for the suspension that can be purchased. I don't know what the best of the best track sho's pull in G's but I should be close to that in handling. I should be around 2950lbs with the coilovers which with a full interior is very light. I still think the BMW's driving experiance would be all around better and if you modded a 325's suspension to the same level there would be little discussion.

afaik the genIII sf will not work on an atx.

As stated, it's a cakewalk to install.

You can make an ATX handle very good. I have, so far, an ideal setup on an ATX and love it. Gen 3 subframe, Coilovers (650lb in front), no front sway bar or stb, read stb, subframe connectors, control arms, h-brace and a custom rear bar that connects the subframe connectors right before the gas tank (big improvement).
