OK, I must confess. I own an 89 with 330k miles. I am good about some things and bad about others. This car is my daily driver. Here goes, I have never changed the brake fluid, never changed the power steering fluid, the A/C does not work and the ac clutch can, at times, be very noisey, never changed the coolant, as it leaks I just add more, I have gone 140k before changing the timing belt, and just as long before checking the valves and spark plugs. The accessary belts are at least 10 years old. I change my oil at 10k. My tranny fluid was changed at the last clutch about 60k ago,..................whew I feel much better. " This house is clean ". Done. Please be gental.

You car really, really, REALLY loves you. Most Fords would have left you standing on the side of a deserted, hungry alligator laden, rainy, dark and lonely road for that.

Then again, I'd like to meet you, so I can rub your head for some of that luck! :slap: I'm not sure you should change any of those fluids now. It may not run the same or worse, never run again.

Good luck! As if you need it.

Wow. :oogle: As some have stated above, your SHO truely LOVES you. Some will find it hard to believe that you engine is still running with your 10K mile oil changes. Have you heard any funny noises yet? God bless the next owner, and his pockets!!!

I always use Mobile One oil. My first engine started knocking at 264k or 284k i dont remember which. But 10k oil changes on that one as well. I had an arguement with some dude at the super **** about the 3k oil change. Told him it was a scam and that 3k was true maybe 20 years ago but not true now. Oil tech and filter tech now do not require 3k changes. even my 89 states 5k if mostly hwy driving. I believe the oil companies are profiting from our ignorance.

I guess your correct to a point. I'll just leave it at, frequent oil changes (say 3K mile interval) gives the owner / any owner of a vehicle piece of mind, as for as critical engine components requiring lubrication goes. Can't argue that it won't keep your internals healthier (is that a word?).
